Atheist Study

I received a decent amount of emails today requesting to be part of Professor Baggett’s study on United States atheists. Thank you for participating if you have. The more diverse results he gets, the better he will be able to show that we are not baby eating devil worshipers (my words not his).

A few people were unable to post their emails to my “ask box” due to tumblr restrictions on posting links. To get around that you can tweak your email to make it work. Example: name@gmail(.)com

Atheist Study

Professor Jerome Baggett is conducting a study about how atheists think about the world around them and go about the business of living their lives. (Link)


Fellow atheists, please click the link for a further explanation of what Professor Baggett is trying to accomplish. Because of the large response that he received so far, he is no longer doing the interviews, but instead having people fill out a survey and questionnaire.

If you would like to fill them out, send me a message with your email and I can forward them to you. Please share this with any other atheists you believe might be interested. This is an excellent project and will hopefully help dispel some of the stereotypes and misconceptions about atheists.

Another question for believers

Our planet is one of eight (nine for those who still count Pluto, I don’t), orbiting around our sun. Our sun is one of an estimated 200 to 400 billion in the Milky Way galaxy. Our galaxy is one of an estimated 170 billion or more within the observable universe. This creates the possibility a very large number of other planets out there. It seems likely that there is probably life on at least one of them, possibly intelligent life.

My question is this; how does the possibility of other intelligent life in the universe factor into your religious beliefs? Do you think that these other possible lifeforms would have the same mythologies as this planet, or is your faith specific to Earth? Do you think that Earth is all that there is?
